Step 1 — Kitchen hood type

Wall hood

Hood against a wall. Single pipe runs the hood length. Grease channel(s) on one side.

Central / island hood

Suspended hood, open both sides. Pipe enters via lateral T-piece, runs U-shape. Cooking nozzles on both sides; detectors shared at centre.

Ventilated ceiling

Nozzles embedded in ceiling panels with bulkhead adapters. Covers cooking zone by area or appliance. Always P2.

Step 2 — Protection strategy

Area protection (linear)

Nozzles every 350 mm along hood or ceiling plenum length, covering all appliances below.

Protection by appliance

Dedicated nozzle(s) per cooking appliance type and size.

Step 3 — Installation type

Surface mounted

Pipe runs visibly inside the hood or ceiling, fixed with tube supports on stud-welded threaded pins. Standard — economical, easy to maintain.

Concealed (flush)

Pipe hidden inside panel or plenum. Nozzles flush-mounted with bulkhead adapters — fixed, directional or glass panel. Premium finish for show kitchens and ventilated ceilings.

Step 4 — Hood dimensions & routing
Hood dimensions
Main dimension — pipe runs along this length
Reference only
Pipe run from container to hood wall/ceiling entry
8×1 control tube from container to manual release
Step 5 — Cooking zone
Area protection — nozzle layout
Step 6 — SPY detectors & temperatures
SPY detector configuration

Auto-calculated based on protection mode, hood length and ducts. Minimum 2 per system. Adjust upward if additional monitoring points are required.

Suggested: 0
1 per duct — suggested: 0
Total SPY detectors
Step 7 — Grease channel(s)
Grease channel configuration

1 nozzle P2 per 2 metres of channel length. Wall hood: typically 1 channel. Central hood: typically 2 channels (one per side).

Step 8 — Exhaust ducts & separators
Exhaust air ducts
Per §6.8/6.9: 2× P2 per duct. Max rect. perimeter 1800 mm (0.18 m²). Max round Ø573 mm (0.26 m²). Ventilation shuts off immediately on alarm.

Grease / aerosol separators
Step 9 — Manual release & pressure switches
Manual Release & Pressure Switch Configuration
Step 10 — Pipe calculation & adjustments
